Manual

I have already looked in the "Manual" for this information and I could not find anything about it. If you had some "useful" information I would really appreciate it.

calypso,

I have not tried this but... there is a wire that connects the seatbelt switch to the trucks wiring. If you look under the seat you will see it.

I'm not sure of the logic but try disconnecting it and see if that works. If it doesn't, then short the connector (on the truck side of the wiring) with something and try again. One of these two solutions should work.

If you have power seats there may be other wires there too so look for the one that has only two wires.

procedure to disable beltminder (long)

From the 2001 F150 Owner's Manual:

Belt minder
The Belt Minder feature is a supplemental warning to the safety belt warning function. This feature provides additional reminders to the driver that the driver’s safety belt is unbuckled by intermittently sounding a chime and illuminating the safety belt warning lamp in the instrument cluster.

One time disable
Anytime the safety belt is buckled and then unbuckled during an ignition ON cycle, Belt Minder will be disabled for that ignition cycle only.

Deactivating/activating the belt minder feature
Read steps 1 -9 thoroughly before proceeding with the
deactivation/activation programming procedure.
The Belt Minder feature can be deactivated/activated by performing the following procedure:
Before following the procedure, make sure that:
² the parking brake is set
² the gearshift is in P (Park) (automatic transmission) or the neutral
position (manual transmission).
² the ignition switch is in the OFF position
² all vehicle doors are closed
² the driver’s safety belt is unbuckled
² the parklamps/headlamps are in OFF position (If vehicle is equipped
with Autolamps, this will not affect the procedure.)

1. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN (or ON) position. (DO NOT
START THE ENGINE)
2. Wait until the safety belt warning light turns off. (Approximately 1–2 minutes)
² Steps 3–5 must be completed within 60 seconds or the procedure will have to be repeated.
3. Buckle then unbuckle the safety belt three times, ending with the safety belt unbuckled. This can be done before or during Belt Minder warning activation.
4. Turn on the parklamps/headlamps, turn off the parklamps/headlamps.
5. Buckle then unbuckle the safety belt three times, ending with the safety belt unbuckled.
² After step 5 the safety belt warning light will be turned on for three seconds.

6. Within seven seconds of the safety belt warning light turning off, buckle then unbuckle the safety belt.
² This will disable Belt Minder if it is currently enabled, or enable Belt Minder if it is currently disabled.
7. Confirmation of disabling Belt Minder is provided by flashing the
safety belt warning light four times per second for three seconds.
8. Confirmation of enabling Belt Minder is provided by flashing the safety belt warning light four times per second for three seconds, followed by three seconds with the safety belt warning light off, then followed by flashing the safety belt warning light four times per second for three seconds again.
9. After receiving confirmation, the deactivation/activation procedure is complete.

Smile Thank you!

You must work for Ford. How in the world did you figure that out? Well it sounds like a lot of work, but I am going to try it. That sound drives me crazy!!!! Thank you very much.

Unhappy Didn't work

Yep, it's on page 125 in the manual.

I tried it 3 times.
The first time the chime still worked but sounded like it was not getting enough juice.
The second time it sounded normal.
Third time was just like the first time.

I guess I gotta go see the service manager.

Good Lord that is a lot of steps, I just hit the release button when I am in the cab and all the doors are shut and it is giving me crap. If you hit the seatbelt release button that stops it until you turn the truck off and start again. Or you could just cut the wire and close the loop, or leave it open whichever is correct.
