What a joke!!!
So Im driving down the road in my 97 f1fiddy and I notice the lights for the heater controls flicker and then go out, so what do I do? Pull of the panel and replace the bulb of course!
Well The other day I was doing a tune up on my friends 97 suburban, I noticed that his heater control light was also burned out so being the good friend that I am I pop the finish panel off and have a look. Ended up having to take the whole damn heater control apart to find 3 tiny light bulbs. So I go to kragen, they dont havem, go to the chevy dealer and the guy acts like Im speakin a foreign language. I the end you cant just replace the bulb you have to buy a whole new unit and for only 137.00. Just goes to show how chebby cheats there owners out of money.

Hi 97
Looks like Ford had a better idea
you fixed burned out bulb.
On that Chevy...the burned out bulbs...were they really not replaceable? or that you just couldnt find replacements?
Anyhow....radio shack and other electornic parts stores carry very tiny, small 12V light bulbs...wheat lamp is one type. All have 2 leads that you solder to the old leads. also 12V neon. etc I've never seen these types at auto parts store.
I replaced the heat light in a waffle iron with one of these...as their also available for 120V.
Just passing along...guess it dosent help now..maybe next time?
Good luck...OT
