I bought my 99XLT used and of course I only got one key but the key fobs are not stock Ford. They are just a two button universal fob.

how do I tell If the power lock brains are aftermarket or Ford with just some replacement fob?

Id like to get the real thing if the brains are Ford OEM

 

Put your key in the ignition and cycle from OFF to RUN eight times quickly, ending in RUN the eighth time. If the doors lock then unlock you have the module for the Ford Fobs.

 

Well it is amazing about all the little things you can do to figure something out on a car....how do you find out about all of the stuff?

Unfortunatly it didnt cycle the locks so i guess i am stuck with the cheap generic fob unless i cough it up for a Factory module..
