Sylvania Silverstars/Lightning lights

Has anyone installed the new Sylvania Silverstars #9007 bulbs in their Lightning headlights? Any heating problem? Were they an improvement over the standard bulbs? Any other information is appreciated.
Thanks

Thumbs up

Yes, I have the 2001 Lightning Headlamps and installed the silverstars 9007 a few days ago. Noticed a much more instense beam and made my factory fog lights with PIAAs look yellowish. Noticed also that they made the lens a bit hot to the touch. Dont remember though if my other bulbs did that as well. Had Phillips Blue Vision before. I see much better at night and the light seems to be spread more evenly on the road. Having tested all kinds of bulbs in the past, this is so far the best I've seen. Good Luck to you.

Thanks for your reply. I just learned that one can replace the factory fog bulb with Silverstars # 9005. I do not like the heat problem, but I will further investigate

Thumbs down 9005 Fog Lights

Yes they do fit with a slight modification of the tabs on the bulb. I have the HB3 PIAA Platinums and they make a hell of a difference. Our Stock Fog lights are only 42W compared to a standard 9005 (HB3) that puts out 60W. The problem is that the fog lites could not handle the extra heat. It melted the metal shield/deflector and I can see it resting at the bottom of my fog lites. Wish they made the fog lites out of a better material instead of the plastic ones we got.

I really appreciate your comments - the result is to go HID, however, if you already made the investment to replace the standard headlights with the ones from the Lightning, then it does not make any sense to go with the HID. If I were 'standard', I would not hesitate to convert.
Thanks
