CD Player Problem
CD Player Problem
I have a factory Ford radio and CD Player. My CD Player all of a sudden quit working. No power, no nothing. The radio says "NO CD". It will not even eject. (OK..I think you get the picture)
The dealer told me I need to get a new wire harness that it has most likely gone bad.
I was going to remove the radio (when I get the stupid tool). My hope is that the plug is just loose, but I am sure it is more than that. My next step would be to check each wire in the harness.
My questions is - what has been the past experience with this problem? Is this a common problem for the wire harness to go out?
Does anyone have the wire/color guide for the harness? I would like to at least check to see if the player is getting power to try to narrow things down.
Thanks!

Try posting this in other audio forum if you haven't done so already as you would get more replies there on this I think. Also when you pull out your radio to check the conections check for water or signs of water leaking in behind the dash if I remember right a couple years ago someone had water leaking behing the dash and shorted out some stuff.
not sure what year truck you have. if you have a cd that is not installed prop. or if it's in the rear door. do you have kid's that like to put penny's in places like that. i have see a lot. label's on a burned cd's comming off getting stuck. if it cant change frome one cd to another. it will say no cd. or it could be that it just gave up the ghost. cd player that is. they do go bad.
Under normal circumstances a wiring harness will not just "go bad". Your assumption of a loose plug sounds more reasonable. I'm not sure if there is a removable plug on the CD changer (never looked, anyone know? ) so a wire by wire check may not be possible. It souds as though you are not getting any power to the changer. If you have a wiring diagram you may be able to check for power out of the radio. Or as Wino stated CD players do go bad.
