Unhappy Please help me with my DOOR AJAR signal!

It seems to come on when ever it wants. I start the truck and it comes on, then sometimes when I close the door it turns off or stays on. I cant drive with my 3rd Brake light on every second. And when I turn my truck of, It sometimes remain on. This will drain my battery. This is a problem with my passenger door. Does anyone have suggestions? Anyone had this problem? Please help! Truck is a 1998 F150 XL Flare.

Sounds like it's the door ajar switch that's located below the door latches inside the doors. Usually dirt gets in the switch. Flood the door latch with WD-40. Cycle the latch a few times and that should cure the problem. It takes a lot of WD-40 to drip down into the switch, so don't be surprised if it starts dripping out the bottom of the door.

Thanks for the reply man! It seems that this is a common problem and the only way to solve it is by using WD 40. Where should I spray it? You mean where the actual handle is. Hopefully this thing will go off.

No, not in the handle, but in the latch. You know, you open the door and it's in the edge? It's the part that catches the metal loop in the rear? The part that goes click click when you close the door?

As you can tell, I'm having a hard time describing it. I only know it as the latch mechanism...
