Keyless Entry

I've read all the recent posts, and completed a search, but haven't found anything that covers this:

I just replaced my '97 SC XLT with a '02 SCrew Lariet. It has the factory keyless entry with a dealer installed Ford security system with remote start. Problem is, its pre-programmed to chirp the horn everytime I lock/unlock the doors with the remote. All Ford keyless entrys I've had before only chirped on lock, and only then if you pushed it twice. Honking the horn everytime I lock and unlock the doors is very annoying (especially to the neighbors at 4:30 in the morning) Unlocking all doors at once I can live with (although I prefer the old method of once for the driver's door, and twice for all doors), but this horn chirp is driving me nuts.

The installer said it is re-programable, but wants me to bring it in to do it. Does anyone know the programming sequence so I can do it myself? I don't want to put up with this for another couple of weeks until I can get to the dealer.

I'd also be interested in what other options are re-programable.

Thanks

Look in your owners manual. On my 99 Lightning, it chirped the horn when I first bought it. There is a certain sequence to follow that disables that. I found it rather annoying also.

Thanks, but I've already looked in the owners maunal and the booklet for the alarm system. They both state that the horn is only supposed to chirp when you push the lock/unlock twice within 20 seconds. The only procedure it has is to disable/enable the autolock feature.

Do you still have the procedure to enable/disable the chirp on your Lightning? Maybe it will work on mine, I'm willing to try anything to get it to stop.

Thanks again

Thumbs up

With the dealer installed Ford security system, the chirping on arming and disarming the security system can be disabled by setting a DIP switch inside the alarm control module. If you have the installation instruction for the security system, it will indicate which switch perform this function. You will then have to locate the alarm control module, open it and set the switch.
Hope this helps.
