Question Power Window Trouble....Need help

The passenger window on my '97 Supercab will roll down but not up. It doesnt sound like its getting any power in the up position. If I try from the drivers side it doesnt do anything, up or down. Think it may be one of the switches or the motor? Seems like it wouldnt do anything if it was the motor. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks

Hi Tide

Did you see other posts here on p.wid. problems? They may be of help to you..... also try the "search" Up at the top....

I assume all fuses are ok....if so....

Its trial & error. Seems to me you need to take the door panel off on the pass. side...so you can get a look at motor...same on the driver side....Be sure all connections are tight, wires ok... Dont know if you can get to back side of power switch with out taking panel off? If you can...then its alot easier to test switch.

Need to run a voltage ck....when you use driver side switch..be sure that switch is hot...ck. voltage going to it. So your checking the switch for pass. side....(drivers side is ok,,,right?)

If switch is hot, but wont run pass. side motor....then jump the switch..so it throws juice to the motor...if motor works...bingo...bad switch...

Hey guy im no whiz on elect. Maybe someone here can help more or say it better..... Also if you do take panel off...be sure to check the window lift arms..that they are not binding....re grease etc...

Hey, maybe itll be something easy....let us know....

Good luck....OT

Thanks, I jumped the switch and the motor works, so I ruled that out. Using a meter, I'm getting 12volts at the passenger switch when I use the drivers side switch, but it does nothing. I'm thinking its something in the passenger side switch, just dont want to shell out the $$$ till i'm more sure. Probably pretty expensive . Anyone else?

thanks

Hi Tide''

Yeah, some basic cks, etc.....save some $, know what u mean.

Not sure....when you jumped switch and lift motor worked, how do you know that the switch is ok? You proved motor was ok.

Usually thats an indication of a bad switch...Anyhow, ck. out pass. side.

have fun. Good luck OT
