Muth Mirrors

Muth Mirrors: I have read and heard that if you have factory
electric mirrors, you can add the turn sigs. Just by changeing the
glass mirror, has anyone done this? If so how hard was it.
I tow a 26 foot travel trailer and like the idea of haveing the
turn indicator where it can be seen from my blind side, but I do
not want to have to change out the complete mirror.
Any help on this would be greatly appricated.
Tks in advaince.

I think that you do have to replace the entire mirror, it hooks up to the factory wiring hrness though, so there's nothing more to add. This is my understanding of it anyway.

Here's the installation manual from the Muth web site:

It looks easy.

JIMB, Thanks this was a big help, the directions are great.
I thought it could be done, Will try this after I do my key pad,
and remote start mods this week-end.
Have a great Holiday and thanks again.

Just finished installing mine. Be careful with the mirror drive pins, they are plastic and kind of fragile. I had to call Muth to get a replacement because I broke one. My Ford dealer wanted to sell me a whole mirror assembly. The Muth guys were very helpful a sent me a couple for free.

EXPY69/Thanks for the info. Did you install the brake light
mod at the same time? Saw a update on the glass install,
where they have a $39.00 kit that lights up both mirrors
when you put on the brakes. How long did it take you to
install? The part that has me thinking, is the glass removal.
Everything I have read, they say let a pro install. I did my
own remote start and alarm. Took a long time but had no
real problem. Again thanks for your help.

I didn't do the brake kit.
The hardest part was routing the wire from the mirror through the door and into the passenger compartment. I didn't have a good fish wire so it was a P-I-T-A. The glass removal wasn't a problem.
I have the shop manuals so taking off the plastic trim, door panel, and locating things was sort of easy. Took me half a day.

Good luck

Now I am lost!! Running wires to the cab?? Did you have
manual stock mirrirs? Mine are electric. From what I have read
the only wireing is spliceing into the harness that is already there.
Am I wrong? Maybe I don't want to take on this one by myself.
The remote starter took me ALL day. you talking about a pain>
But the end resulta were worth the trouble. Now I guess I will
have to re-think the mirrors..

Yes, I have power mirrors.
You have to run a 2-conductor wire to supply power for the LEDs that form the arrow. It splices to the harness under the steering column. (The wire is provided in the kit.)
