Ok, I'm quoting from the 1999 F150 Owners Manual pg.10,
"The TCIL (transmission control indicator light) may flash steadily if a malfunction is detected. If the TCIL is flashing, contact your Ford dealer as soon as possible. If this condition persists, damage to the transmission could occur."
Could be a sensor, about $60 for the part and $70 labor.
Ignored, it could lead to more expensive problems.

Hi Lee
You didnt say, but what was going on prior to the warning lights coming on????
Raoul was right on about the TCL.
If you havent done it, gonna have to plug into the diagnostic port under dash. Chances are a code has been thrown. If so, then thats the starting point. That code = what may be wrong.
In my case, when the TCL started flashing, no other light came on. I noticed shortly before that, that my auto.tranny wasnt shifting right. Anyhow, ended up with a tranny rebuild under warranty and only 16000mi.
Mine was 99SC with 4.6L and 4R70W.
Ck. engine light in the past was more for the emission system. But on these newer models, the computer is reading alot of stuff feed into it. Makes it easier to figure out whats wrong because of all the codes installed. Of course that depends on whos reading it and there understanding of what they read.
Good luck. Maybe you could let us know when you find out....
Ck. engine light and TCL both on at same time. 2 different problems or same one?
Good luck. OT

Had the same thing last year. After 2! rebuilds already, the tranny had to be rebuilt yet again. (And rebuilt again and then replaced all together at my insistance the time after THAT! I quite honestly don't remember what the problem was the time when the OD light was flashing. I had so many probs with my 4R70W I can't remember them all.
Take it in, it needs something bad!
