2005 F150 STX 4x4: Wiper just quite working

Hi all! New to the forum and I am sure this question has been asked before, but I couldn't find it.

In 2020 I purchased a 2005 F150 STX 4x4 former fleet rig as my semi-daily driver and towing rig (i build prewar cars and I needed something to pull). This truck was one of 15 purchased new by a big Ag company to run General fleet duties (equipment hauling, pickups, deliveries, towing and other services). They were really well maintained and not beat on. When it came time to replace the fleet, my truck was the last to go, having a blown transmission. I paid scrap value almost ($800) and fixed the damaged 4R75W myself. Ever since, it's been flawless. ...until today.

I was at the hardware store and it was raining all day. The wipers worked fine on the way there and when I got back into the truck and turned the key on (I left the wiper switch on) they made one drag across the windshield, parked and that was it....nothing. Everything else works fine (turn signals, brights, washer pump, etc) just not the wipers.

I did as much reading as I could, but got a bit lost. There are no real posts about this issue on 2004-2008 F150s, no real definitive information on what governor is used and nothing on where it is.

I think the governor I need is # YC2Z17C476A...but I don't know if that's even the issue.

My opening questions would be:

Based on my description, what might be my issue?

What parts do I need for this?

What wiper governor is correct?

Where is the governor located on my truck and is that even my issue?

Thanks in advance for any help and advice!

All of the wiper electronics, except for the switch(es), are contained within the wiper motor module.

As far as diagnostics go, there are checks of the various power feeds, ground, and MFS inputs that should be done to ensure that the wiper motor module is the only thing left.
  1. CJB Fuse F113, ALWAYS HOT, RD wire, connector pin 5
  2. CJB fuse F01, HOT in ACCY, DG wire, connector pin 8
  3. CJB fuse F102, feeds ignition switch which, in turn, feeds F01
  4. Grounds, both black, connector pins 3 & 6.

To check the MFS inputs, disconnect the wiper motor connector and check for a ground signal as follows:
  1. Low speed - pins 9 & 10
  2. High speed - pins 1, 9, & 10.
  3. Intermittent speeds 2, 3,& 4 - Pin 11
  4. Wire colors: Pin 1 - PK/BK, Pin 9 - YE, Pin 10 - LB/OG, Pin 11 - PK
I think the governor I need is # YC2Z17C476A.
That part isn't used on your truck. Correct Ford part number for the wiper motor for your truck will probably depend on production date and VIN.

This will be super helpful. Ill dig out my meter, get the wiper arm/fresh air vent valence off and start testing on the motor connector and the points on the CJB as suggested.

Are all the pins numbered on the connector itself? I went looking for a layout drawing but couldn't find one in case they are not marked.

So it looks like I have voltage everywhere I should. All my fuses are good F01, F113, F102 when I should and shouldn't. I have correct voltages on the specified pins in the wiper motor connector for OFF. Low, Intermediate and High speeds...but not go. Looks like we have ourselves a bad Wiper Motor module.

I will get a new one on order and replace it.

Your help has been exemplary. I'll let you know how it goes once I have the new motor.
