Gauges and other electronics turn off

I have a 2005 f150 with the 5.4 V8, sitting at 190k miles, kept up to date on all services. No issues up until this point. Driving home from work yesterday and got about 2 miles down the road and I noticed all of my gauges turned off, AC was sputtering, and then truck started to sputter like it was running out of gas,( have 3 quarters of a tank in it). Pulled truck up over the sidewalk, it turned off, tried to start again and it sounded like the battery was dead. Called a buddy to come give me a jump but while waiting on him, I took off cables from battery and cleaned them up a little bit and checked all wires going from the battery to the alternator and everything seemed tight. Hooked the battery back up and then got the jumpers on it, immediately fired back up and let it idle for 10 minutes. Decided to try and continue driving and made it about a quarter of a mile before the same thing happened, lost electronics and then the truck sputtering. Ended up flat towing it back to the house, and noticed that even with the keys out I could hear the fuel pump trying to run and my headlights were flickering. Ended up just unhooking the battery and letting it sit for now until i get a chance to start narrowing down the problem tommorrow. Im not entirely mechanically smart when it comes to motors and electronics so I'm looking for any possible advice as to what the cause could be. Thank you

I'd get your battery tested.

Also look at your grounding.

Have the alternator tested, too.
