Power windows wiring workaround

.is there a way to bypass the fuse box and just run a wire direct from the battery to the power windows wiring harness?

Can you? Yes, if you know what you're doing.

The better question is "WHY?" as in what problem are you trying to avoid fixing properly?

Have a big electrical problem. Swapped out the gem module, which didn't fix it. Going to replace the fuse box next. If it doesn't work I want to bypass it. I need my windows to work. Not to mention my turn signal. Huge fuster cluck.

For some reason my reply was censored.

As a last resort. If replacing the gem module and fuse box don't work, I need my windows.

I'm stuck at this point.

Ok. It's not the fuse box or the gem module. Do you know how to bypass? Need my windows. This truck has to last the summer before I can replace it.

You can run fresh wiring from the battery (make sure it's fused), to the door, and attach it to the window switches and motor. It's a fairly simple process.

If you can't do it, I highly suggest finding someone that is competent in electrical wiring.

Just please... make sure it's fused with at least 5-10 amp fuse.

Are you positive it's not just a bad driver's door switch cluster? Have you tried troubleshooting with a multimeter to see where the voltage is lost?

Thank you very much. I'll give it a shot.

It loses power upstream of the relays, in a different circuit that keeps blowing fuses (either dome lights or battery saver). The power windows circuit is dependent on the other circuit having power.

You might want to try to find and fix that short before you hack into the window wiring.
