Post Truck Won't Crank

I have a 2000 F150 XLT Triton 5.4 V8. It has had a dead battery for a few weeks. Attempted to jump it off. It's getting power where the windows open, dash is lit up, radio and all works. When I try to crank it, I get one click and nothing. When I release the key, the power cycles again. Every time I try to start it I get the same result. Messed with the cables and nothing changes. Haven't had issues with ignition prior to the battery dying. Could it go out with a prolonged dead battery? When I disconnect the jumper cables, the battery gauge goes almost all the way down and moves up and down a little, periodically. It will continuously click when turning the ignition. When I reconnect the jumper cables, the battery gauge goes up to the middle and only clicks once when turning the ignition.

Charge the battery or replace if it will not take a charge. Clean the terminals. Clean the battery cable connection at the starter.

Pull the battery, take it to a parts store, get it properly charged and load tested.
