Possible GEM issue

So lately i've been having issues with the power window on the driver side working intermittently. Sometimes it will work fine and other times it won't. If i press the window up button with the window already up i lights will dim a bit like it's pulling voltage. This doesn't happen if I press the down button. No other issues really other than the power mirrors only seem to work in one or two directions. I've seen all of the horror stories about the GEM and corrosion but i don't see any signs of water near mine other than a bit of surface rust on the parking brake bracket. No wet floor or anything. I WILL admit that the issue began after replacing door speakers. Any advice? I'd hate to replace the GEM over a power window issue. I'm the original owner and am in the process of fixing it up with my son who's 15 now. It's a 97 F150 Lariat extended cab with electronic 4x4.

You need to check the wiring going into the door. You could have a loose, broken, or corroded wire or splice.

Check that, and also see if you have a rodent infestation, since it's that time of the year...

Had 3 vehicles in the past week need my soldering attention after some little varmints got hungry...

Thanks glc. It's in the shop getting an alignment after replacing both upper control arms and lower ball joints. I'll take the door panel back off and check all of the wiring once i get it picked up.

You need to check inside the bundle between the door and the cab.

Hopefully it's a simple wire issue. Thanks for the advice. I'm sure as we go along with this semi-restoration i'll have plenty of questions.
