Radio change

Ok so I am trying to replace my factory radio on my 97 f150 XL, everywhere I've looked the only harnesses I find are speaker harnesses. The factory radio is Am/Fm with no cassette or CD.The radio is a cheap one from Walmart. Do I need a different wiring harness or does the factory one work? And do I need the speaker harness? The are so many choices of different speaker harnesses and other things but no mention of a wiring harness itself. Thanks for the help.

You should be able to just get an adaptor harness that plugs into the new radio and then plugs into your existing harness. The speakers should be wires through the factory harness and be connected when you plug it in.

Did you make sure that the new radio will fit? I just put a double din in my 03 and had to trim the dash. The face plates on both radios were the same size, but the new radio's case was taller.

If you need it there is a write up in the how to articles for installing a double din.

Good luck
