High beams

2004 F150 Supercrew
The high beams don't work. Flash to pass works when you pull on the signal arm. Checked the fuse and the relay. Both seem fine. I am guessing the switch is done? Which is in the steering column? And I would have to pull the wheel? Sounds like a trip to the dealer. Has anybody done it? Is it painful? Do you have to replace the whole turn signal assembly?

Most likely the multi-function switch or one of the connector's pins is damaged or pulled.

All you have to do is pull the column shroud covers to access.

Is your 2004 the new body style ?
- I am drawing a blank if the 2004 heritage had both a Scab & Screw or just Scab in addition to the std cab.

No 04 Heritage Screw - just RC and Scab.

thanks for confirming what you have.

It would be a good idea to test the MFS itself, you can test at the wiring, but that won't help too much ( could be the MFS or the wiring still ).

I uploaded the diagram to another album, the site is not showing pictures from some albums again ( select album it shows album #2 ).
- Asked about it some time ago, and it went no where.

Here it is.

Thx for the wiring diagram & description. I'm wondering if some replies are just reprints of other posts as many refer to the multi function switch, and I mentioned in my initial post that the first thing I did was order and replace that switch, resulting in no change in the problem...
I did also try swapping out the Hi beam relay, assuming maybe the contacts may have been stuck causing the Hi beams to stay on, however, no luck there either.
Again, after all the above, when I turn the headlamp switch on, the hi beams & red indicator on dash remain "on", no matter what position the MFS is in.

Your post resurrected a thread from 10 years ago...
