If you have tilt steering wheel, try tilting it up and down with the lights in OFF position (though the lights will probably be on). It may be shorted wires from the MFS (multi function switch) where they pass through the steering column collar just below the steering wheel or it may be the MFS itself. It obviously could also be the headlight switch itself.

You shouldn't have had to take it out to test it. The MFS has small wires and the often get chaffed or broken from tilting the tilt wheel. That's why I said tilt the wheel with the lights OFF to see if they either come on or off or flicker. Plug the switch back in to the plug and try manipulating the wires (pigtail). The light switch could very well be the problem. Do you know how to get it out? I'm not wanting you to tear everything apart. Most of the testing can (and should) be done with everything still in place. There should also be relays in the headlight system and one might be stuck. The relays should be either under the hood in a relay box (small) or in the main fuse box inside the truck.
