2007 F-150 Door Handle With Keypad

Hello all,
I know that this has come up in other threads quite a few times but I cant seem to find a straight answer. I have a 2007 F-150 XLT and have a chance to pick up a door handle with keypad for relatively cheap, In some places I have heard this is plug and play for the 04-08 and in some placed I have heard it has to be programmed. Is there anyone out there that can give me a straight answer on if this will work for my truck?

Thanks in advance!!

I can tell you for a fact it's not plug and play on an '04. Been there, done that. Plenty of write up on it here. An '07 should be but short of trying it, I doubt anyone can guarntee it. If it lights up when plugged in and a button is touched, it should respond to the code on your glove box card or on the VSM behind the rear seat. If it doesn't light when done as noted, it probably isn't plug and play because that would mean there's no juice to it. Would have to be programed by Ford. There was a recent poster who tried it on a '10 or '11 and it didn't work. Only Ford knows what their logic is.

As code58 posted, hit or miss if Ford programmed the VSM for it.

Some as built data on trucks, it was included others not. Bluejay did his and it was just a missing ground on the VSM behind the rear seat to get his to work.

If you are all in, install it, and press any button, it would illuminate if programmed and the VSM with all the grounds.

If not, time to remove the rear seat and check the grounds to the VSM that they are all connected. If they are, next is a trip to the dealer to have them pull the as built data and program the VSM for a keypad.
- Might want to make sure the dealer you would use has a clue about this, some dealers have morons for techs. that cannot find their rear with both hands and a 3 way mirror.

My 05 was not plug and play. There was a ground that had to be attached. Spent $100 at the dealer and it worked great after that.

I have a 2011 sc xlt. Dose anyone know we're the VSM is it that year. I've looked behind the seat. It's not there. I am also looking to add the handle with the key pad.

The F150 was changed over to a BCM ( Body Control Module ) which is the cab fuse panel. This has the SJB ( Smart Junction Box ) fuse panel functions, as well as the VSM integrated into it.

The keypad is wired to the BCM via connector C2280C which is a gray 2 row, 26 pin connector ( 2 rows of 13 ).
- The few door latch and lock / unlock switches also run through this connector.
