Before you take that route be sure to look under your dash and be sure that you have the plug for the trailer break controller.

Another success story here! Thanks for the awesome instructions on how to do this! I saved a ton of money. I did this on a 2014 F150 XLT with no tow package. Here are some pics of where I spliced into the harness under the hood above the driver's side wheel well. My truck had the TBC plug right behind the coin tray in the dash, it was found plugged into it. I took it to a dealer after all the install was complete and now it works like a charm! Gives readouts and information right on my gage display next to spedometer.

Great job and congrats. How did you convince the dealer to flash it and how much did it cost to flash it? Thanks for the report.

I called the dealers service department and made sure they knew what I was talking about and they charged me 100.00 which was more than I probably should have paid, but it was convenient, water under the bridge at this point.

All you have to do is go to your dealer and ask them to flash for TBC, most if not all should be able to do it. Takes 5 mins, usually costs around $50. Some charge more, some will do it for free.

nice job on your install. I have a question if you don't mind. What did you do with the grey/brown wire for reverse lights? Did you splice that somewhere else? i noticed you only ran 2 wires to the back, just wondering what happened to the third.

Did anyone install any of the other parts that come along with the tow package such as the engine oil cooler?

I personally didn't run a wire for reverse lights, since I don't have a trailer with reverse lights (most don't). As for oil cooler, that is something I know I am looking into.

You think it's a good idea to put your number out on the Internet like that? I'd ask people to PM you instead.

Can you do this mod even if you have the regular cluster. I have the cluster in the first picture and want to do this but not sure if it will work and can't find any information on it. I have the cluster in the first picture of the link

I purchased the correct wiring harness from ford and replaced everything from the front back. You just remove one harness and put in the new one. I did not have to drop the gas tank. A few of the connections are kinda hard to see but it can be done. My truck was new at the time and I did not want to splice anything.
I am about to install a TBC/ new OEM wiring harness (from the front to back, as I do not have the necessary wires at the rear of the truck). However, I can't seem to track down the OEM wiring harness. I have a 2013 XLT supercrew. Could you point me in the direction of where you found yours? Thanks for the help!

So did you run these 2 wires back to a after market 4 pin to 7 pin plug like this one? If so which wire went to which one?
