97 F-150 headlight/wipers/high beam ceased with tilting steering column
I have a used 97 F-150 that has had many wiring splices and dices! Things anywhere from alarms, trailer switches, changed ignition, to many different audio adds and take a ways. Since having the truck, there have been minor electrical glitches; such as: power locks, power window, interior lights, rear cab lights; but most recently, wiper issues while adjusting tilt on steering column, which in turn made headlights cut in and out, that eventually cut out completely. I was able to make the high beams stay on, but after trying to use washers/wipers, they stopped working too. somehow the tilt in the steering column has managed to short out or something having to do with all three things(high beams, head lights, & wipers) I've checked fuses and relays, not a clue what to do. I took it to a local shop, but they refused to even look at it because so many wires had been added, cut, or spliced. they didn't want to be liable for any problems that may or may not be encountered....HELP! I'm out of options, I'm a single mother, working and attending school at night. I HAVE TO BE ABLE TO DRIVE!! HELP!!
If the tilt is causing the symptoms to disappear, I would take a SWAG that the Connector for the MFS is pulling apart. Somewhat common.
Take a look at the MFS connector ( need to take a bit of the dash apart to get to it ).
You are looking for a connector that is pulled apart, or the pins are broken free of the connector hood.

Might want to try a garage that knows F150s, this is a somewhat common issue.
