"big 3"

So I have been reading a lot about upgrading the "Big 3" but not sure if many people have don’t it or not. So the Big 3 is upgrading the 1) cable from the battery to the alternator 2) engine mount to the chasse then 3) chasse to the battery. Now I’m recommending going with a 0 gauge power cable or a 4 gauge. i am told that with this and a capacitor I should not have any power issues when I’m listing music with my system all the way up. Pretty much What im asking is if any inputs... and if some has done it how much cable did you use?

You should also think about upgrading the grounding strap between the cab and chassis (frame) since you 'll likely be groudning your amps on the cab back wall.

To know if you are going to have any problems, we need to know your system, otherwise just guessing. I would upgrade the stock alternator and battery, add a second battery before adding a capacitor.

I used 1/0, I think I used about 15' for my "Big 4" upgrade.

well im not running a huge system. just a small 500watt amp for my 2 10" subs and eventually run another amp for the speakers but i would like have this upgrade along with my optima red top. As for the alternator, i believe that it will do just find for now. and adding a capacitor is a lot cheaper than a second battery.

would 4 gauge wire be sufficient for this mod. i dont want to run 0 gauge because its alot more for the cable.
