complete loss of power need help!

Ok I've got a 99 model with a 4.2. i went to start it and as soon as I turned the key I heard a click and then nothing. I lost all power no lights or anything. I disconnected the battery to reset the computer and the same thing happened. I'm thinking that something is grounding out or maybe the solenoid. I was wondering if anyone has had this issue before or had any suggestions. I have to get the truck back running ASAP as it is my DD so anything and everything is appreciated.

do the gauges sweep when you go to key on?

sounds like it might just be a weak/dead battery

Yes the gauges sweep. I know a battery can randomly go dead at pretty much anytime but this battery isn't 2 months old and it hasn't had an issue turning over or bogging down when I tried cranking it earlier today. I did notice earlier in the day when I'd try to crank it that it would have a skip or a miss in it then I'd have to reset the radio and clock like the battery had died. I thought a loose terminal so i checked it when I got home and everything was clean and tight as can be.

the sweeping gauges is an indication of interrupted or low voltage.

you might have a parasitic draw on your hands, possibly a starter issue, but i'd look at the battery and battery drain issue first
