truck starting problems

Please Help!

I have a 95 f-150 with a v-8 automatic transmission. I can not get my truck to start. When i turn my key to the on position i get power to radio, lights, dash , everything but when i try to start it nothing.

I have testing the starter and it works fine, I can jump the terminals with a screw driver and make it start.

I just replaced the starting solenoid and that did nothing.

I am not really sure what the next step is. I think it might have something to do with my gears. When shifting gears I sometimes have to jiggle the shifter to get into the right gear. Not sure if this has anything to do with it or if it is a completely different problem.

Any advise would be great.
Thanks

Have you tried starting the truck with the gear shifter in Neutral? If it starts there, you almost certainly need to adjust the way the shift mechanism effects the Digital Transmission Range (DTR) sensor. (It used to be called the "Neutral Safety Switch", which keeps you from starting an automatic in gear.)

Your problem with shifting would seem to point to this as the cause too.
