Chime after key removed?

After I shut off the engine and remove the key from the ignition, opening the door makes the chime go off. Seems that this is somewhat timed as if I wait for 30 seconds it won't chime, jump right out and it will chime longer than if I wait 10 seconds.

This is annoying! Is this normal? Is there a way to turn it off? I like the lights on, key in ignition type chimes, just this one for no reason is really bugging me.

Truck is a '01 F-150 SuperCrew XLT.

I have a 2003 f-150 XLT and have noticed it. I just ignore it. Don't tear into you truck if you don't have to. It came and it can go.

Wow, that was an old post. The problem was figured out after several visits to Ford. I had put a noise suppressor for AM on the power line to the radio. It held power and fed back after the key was shut off causing the chime. Removed the suppressor and the problem went away.
