03 Expedition 5.4 EB edition Please help at my wits end
Here's some back round information: It first started when I was driving to town the truck just died pulled over put it in neutral started it back up drove to town back home. It ran good after that for a while then it just died. Acted like it wasn't getting gas so changed fuel pump and filter. Fixed that problem ran great then on the way to doctor it died while driving. So I tapped the fuse box under the dash started back up. Did some research found out that this model truck had problems with the fuse box so I checked my fuse box sure enough it was melted, so I bought another fuse box put it in got the check charging system error I was then advised to get a new alternator and battery so I got one put it in same error then I was told it had to be Ford Motor craft alternator got one of those and put it in. I get the same error message and my battery is draining so I checked the fusible link no burnt wires. Am I missing something what should be my next step?
That is why I asked if you checked that the battery is getting charged by the alternator.
If you put a meter on the battery while the motor is running, what is the voltage ?
What is the voltage of the battery with the engine off ?
This would give me an idea if I should suggest checking the alternator field fuse.

I don't remember what the voltage was the person with the meter went home stumped I will try to get him to come back with it. But is there something I can try till I can come up with one? Took me a week to get him here last time I asked him
You can blindly change the alternator field fuse, but without a meter, you cannot check the end of the harness to know if it is good or not ( which covers the harness and the fuse both ).
This is what I am talking about. Keep in mind this is for a F150, so you need to check your owners manual to confirm the location for the alternator field fuse.
