I have checked c148/149 and they look good. There is no identifiable 'anti-slosh' circuit I can find on cluster rear. There has been a 4 inch lift on this thing (I bought it this way). Is there a test either at c148/149 to test connectivity from cluster to sender? This Fuel255 code as I interpret, says open harness? Thank you in advance.
I have the same problem. Did you ever get this resolved. If so, can you tell me how you fixed it?

Fuel gauge empty light on & test mode fuel code=255

I just cant catch a break. Finally fix my wonky cruise control and now fuel gauge is acting up. I just recently had my fuel light come on and stay on after a fill up. every once in a while the needle comes to its senses and reads something but most of the time it is resting on the empty stop and the fuel light is on. every time I have put it in test mode the code always shows 255. I cant seem to catch it when the needle is not showing empty as it comes back to life briefly but not for long usually as I am driving and consuming fuel.

I have seen on youtube 2 problem scenarios that this might be: anti slosh module or sending unit.

the next test I would like to do is measure resistance on the sending unit but I really dont want to drop the tank just to do this. Does anyone know where I might be able to clip on to the wires under the body or in the cab or even on the back of the instrument cluster to read sending unit resistance?

and also, if my scenario sounds familiar I am curious to see what you did to fix this if you read empty 90-95% of the time and get a fuel code of 255 on the cluster test mode.

Thanks
