Radio ang gauge issue.

I have a 06 f150 Harley with the 6-disc changer, and there seems to be a problem with my radio. Ive had this car for about 2 months, and when I crank the egnition, my radio resets. This has happend 3-4 times. But today, when I turned the egnition, the radio reset, and all of the gauges started jumping a little bit, just for 2 sec, and the it got back to normal. Anybody with the same issue??

Taking a big SWAG, I would have the battery load tested.

My supposition is the battery is at the end of its life, and before when you cranked the motor, that was all it had.

This is a big SWAG, but worth a check.

The only other thing I could think of is the constant power fuse to the radio is blown, but this would have shown up before.

I think SSCULLY is right on target with the battery diagnosis. When you start, you drop the voltage available and if it goes low enough, the radio will act like the keep alive power has been cut. In fact, it may have protective circuits that will keep it from "seeing" a very low voltage, since that can damage electronics.

The other thing I thought of today...

Do you have one of the cheap add-a-fuse blades on the fuse to the radio ?

Some of the cheap ones are clipped to the blade and reinstalled, stretching out the fuse holder.

Might want to also check the hot at all times fuse to the radio, to see if the fuse wiggles around.

Battery is still on my thought.

Also the 2007 should have the starter hold circuit with the starter diode. The owners manual describes the procedure, where you only need to turn the key to the start position for a moment ( length of time in the manual ) and let go, the truck will crank for upto 5 seconds ( 8 ?? ) until it starts or the time runs out. I know this is not on the 2006, think it was a 2007 / 2008 MY change, is what my old memory ( not that trust worthy anymore ) is telling me.
