new alternator now light
new alternator now light
Hi there
The bearings were going in my alternator, they sounded like they're full of sand. So I installed a new 130 amp (rebuilt) one and new gatorback belt from parts store now the battery light stays on constantly. I checked the voltage at the battery and it reads 14.45v with engine running and around 12.8v when not running. Any clues?

Fixed
Did a mega-search and came to the conclusion that the regulator on the rebuilt Alt was no good. Took the alternator off and to no surprise the regulator was an old re-used Ford one. Took the Alt back to store and exchanged it , The exchanged one has a new no-name regulator on it. Installed it in the truck and no battery light any more.
