This sounds like TSB 08-2-9

This is an issue where high Sulfur content fuel will make the fuel level sender show a high or open resistance value.

This TSB not a recall, so if you are out of warranty it will cost to fix it.

The 1 time I had it happen was when I filled at an other than normal brand station ( I stick to Sunoco & Mobil ). I let the tank run down, and filled it at Mobil again, and it was fine since.

Maybe change where you fuel ( don't go for bottom dollar ) and stick with 1 brand to get it to clear up.

Sorry TSB is Technical Service Bulletin ( so something close to that ) and the number is to ID the different ones.

It would be :
Technical Service Bulletin 08-2-9
The date on it is 02/04/08

Pic what ever brand you can fuel at, and try to stick with that brand for a while.

Valero has some high BTU content fuel, don't know if those are around you or not.
