No power running to Intake Air Temp Sensor

I have a 1997 F-150 V8 4.6. Check engine light came on, checked the code, P0112 Intake Air Temperature Circuit Low Input. I was told by Autozone to check the power to the sensor. I only have one of those testers that has the needle pointer and a light which lights up. I checked both sides of the connector, no power. I cut off the connector and checked the bare wire (stupid idea) and still no power. When it comes to electrical work I have no clue. My truck rattles while accelerating and going up hills, which is apparently a symptom of a bad IAT sensor. But I do not know if the sensor is bad if there is no power to it. What do I do from here? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
