battery light

I have a 2004 FX4. A couple of days ago the battery light on my panel started lighting up. This happens about 30 seconds after the truck is started. When I reach 2000 RPMs, the light goes out. In the city, I drive in 2nd gear to keep the rpms up. Can anyone givd me an idea of what can be going on?

alternator is going bad

get a ford one, if you dont your battery light will most likely stay on, even though everything is working
