i have aftermarket projector headlight housing that have seperate HI and LO bulbs.i upgraded both beams to HID units w/ballasts.

my question is how do i wire it so when my HI beam is on the LO stays on?
im not very electrically inclined but in my head i have the HI turn on wire connected to the LOW turn on wire with a one way valve. so the power only goes one way- from HI to LO, not LO to HI. i believe this is called diode. so all i need is a diode??

i ask because my HI beam HIDs take a good minute to warm up and its kind of dangerous. i get around the situation by pulling back on the headlight ''flasher'' till the bulb warms up or just constantly use the LO beams.

 

This is an option I gave on how to power standard high & low beams at the same time.



Depending on how you did the HID install, it should work the same.

I think this was for a 97-03 MY truck, so you will need to double check the wire colors for the circuits.

 

a LED is a diode so i was hoping just to put one in but that would be too easy

thanks for the diagram btw, now i just have to figure it out. its funne how someone can look at it like reading a childrens book and someone else like trying read a book in a forien language.

got the quad high beams to work. so the lows are on with the highs.
blew 2 ballast out in the progress.
only need 1 relay. now im pretty good with relays
upgraded the HI beam to 55W. the lo are 10k and the HI are 8k

im thinkin about changing the DRL accent lights to red bulbs. hope i dont get pulled over
