Rear window fell, now what?

Got back in my truck a week ago, drove out of parking lot and I hear a thump. Looked back and my passenger rear window was gone. Pulled over and it had just fallen down inside the door. I thought maybe something in my interior (loaded that day) fell over and pushed the button, but nope, it would not come back up. I went to a buddy's, pulled the panel off and all I see is a bunch of loose cables. Hit the PW button, it works but is pulling all this loose cable up into a twisted mess. I thought I had the cables fixed for the down portion of the puzzle, but have lost the battle on trying to reach everything else. Somebody said that there is a problem with these but am not sure what happened, heat maybe? Anyone else have this problem? What was the solution? I would think that they would put the motor pulley facing out for better access. Anyway I am up for ideas, poor truck looks like it puked its door innards out and now I got duct tape residue everywhere.

more of a Mechanical issue, but here is what I found on the topic of window regulator

Seems there is a plastic tab in the window motor/regulator that can brake, and cause this.

Just supposition on my part, but it seems you will need to take it out to get the cables correct, and check if the tabs are broken or not ( that is a swag, lack of coffee this AM has me a bit foggy, to grasp if it is just a cable issue that removal and reloom would fix, or if the tabs are sheered off ).
