Keyless entry

I have a 04 FX4 5.4 and the keyless entry on the door is apparently not working. It does nothing when I touch it, not even light up. I bought the truck used and do not know the entry code. Anyone know how I can get the code? Previous owner is not an option.
Also if there is a way to disengage it that may be the problem, does anyone know anything about that? The dealer wants 125 bucks to tell me the code.

$125...the dealer I talked to wanted $70 and I thought that was too high.

Here is a lot of info on the "PATS" system

The 5 digit code ( if not the card is not in the manual somewhere ) is on the BSM ( body Security Module ) behind the rear seat back or in the case of the std cab, behind the trim.

There is a thread in the how to section on removing the seat back if you need that.

If you push a button and the light does not light up, either the ground to the keypad is broken or the keypad has an issue.

Do the RKE fobs still work correctly ?

The RKE fob & the PDL buttons working correctly, would show the ground to the BS< is functioning correctly.

Always a chance the previous owner put a keypad handle on, not knowing that on an '04 it would not work period, unless turned on with the Ford shop dedicated computer. Why is it not an option to contact the former owner to determine what the real story is? Have Ford run the VIN. That'll tell you if it was "built as" or not. If it comes back not factory installed, don't waste your time chasing you tail in that direction. It is somewhat of a red flag when the keypad doesn't light up. Horse goes before the cart, not after.
