Exclamation 2005 F150 Window Switch problems

Hello All,

Ok. Just like I've read here several times, about 2 years ago my Master Window Switch went out, then the motor on Driver's regulator went out, then had a broken wire...

Now, with a Brand New set up (regulator and braces) in the door and a Brand New Master Switch here is what is (not) happening:

All LEDs on all four switches light up, but none of the windows will move up or down. When I hit any switch with the Driver's door open; I get the 'DOOR AJAR" Warning and then all LEDs go out. I have checked and all four switches are getting power; but no function. The closest I got to anything moving was a few minutes ago I hit the rest button 3 times after the "Door Aja" warning (with the Driver's door still open) and got the front passenger window to move down about 1/8" before it stopped. Now, when I push any window switch, all the LEDs go out and then come back on after letting off the switch. I am completely puzzled. I am thinking a short inside the driver's door somewhere? Any one out there experienced this or have a possible solution?

Thanks

Might want to check the ground wire with the door open and closed.

Could be a ground wire in the rubber boot from the door to the driver's side a pillar, about to completely become and open.

This is just guessing at this from the door ajar indicator ( it needs switches ground ) and the other windows not working, but the instrumentation LEDs do ( power is from the accessory delay relay, the ground for the window is via the driver's side switch, but the LED is illuminated with the ground in that door ).

Just a SWAG on my part, if you want to test the theory without taking apart the rubber boot, add a good ground from the door to the cab of the truck to test with.

SSCULLY,

You were right with your SWAG, I ran a ground from the door to the cab and got intermittin results; so I pulled the wires and the boot. Sure enough inside the boot, right at the flex point, broken ground wire. Also the main power wire was broken (but still touching. I rewired both and now everything is working fine. I (like most others who have commented) was surprised at how brittle those wires were. Thanks

Eddie

When you say the same thing, did you check for power to the passenger side switch ?
This would be using the ground ( that the driver's side switch provides with the driver's side switch at rest ) on either the White w/ Yellow stripe or Tan w/ Light Blue stripe wires. The power at the passenger switch ( with the window lock off ) Yellow w/ Light greens stripe wire.

What tests ? The post was vague on what exactly was tested, but he found the broken ground and power to the driver's side door with the testing he did.

Using a meter to check for power and ground on the passenger side is a good place to start, wire colors are listed above.

[QUOTE=ciscos-F1;4552018] I tested the power and ground from the pass. Door I have power I'm thinking its gonna be the power that comes from the master switch. That's not shooting the current for the passenger sides, but what I notice is when I push the button on the driver side for the passenger side it cuts off meaning like theirs no power. It looks like it cuts off completely only when I push the button for it to go up. When I push it to go down it doesn't cut off the light stays on. On the switch I need to take off that boot that's on the wire harness on the driver side to those wires ill do that and ill post back up on here
Thanks for the help
