i have a 1997 ford f150 i installed an aftermarket cd player the other day now the cd player works with the switch turned on but not when i start the engine.. but as soon as i cut the engine off the raido will start working again i have checked all my fuse they are good..... does anyone know why this could be happing

 

How did you wire the factory harness to the radio ?

 

You have it wired to a circuit with a Key On/Start Interrupt. Find another circuit (like the one marked "Radio") that is constant hot regardless of Key On position.

If you didn't hack up your factory harness as part of the install you can get a harness adapter. Plugs into the factory radio connector, has everything needed for a proper install, and is clearly labeled.

i bought the harness adapter... i dont beleave in hacking the factory wires and i matched all the wires up.... i put the factory radio back in the truck while installing it and trying to fix the problem and it did the same thing any ideas

 

When you posted "cd player works with the switch turned on" What does this mean ?

How did you check the fuses ?

Did you install a standalone CD player or completely replace the factory in-dash radio?
