Question Help...Compass/Temperature overhead not working

I just purchased a 2001 F-150 SuperCrew and the Compass/Temp. display is not working. It is blank without any digital display at all as if there is no power. Is there a fuse or wire that I can check? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Have you looked at the fuse list in your owner's manual?

I did look at the list of fuses but didn't see it, although it may be listed under a different name so I'll check again.

If I remember correctly, my 2002 had a switch on the overhead console, next to the display, that turned it on and off.

I have not been able to resolve the issue and I'm not really interested in taking it to the shop to get it figured out only to tell me it needs replacing and costs an arm and a leg. Keep me posted if you find a fuse or a common problem and I will do the same.

Same button - I believe you pressed it multiple times to select either: Temp., compass, both temp. and compass, or nothing. I guess elowe73 has tried this already????

The very next thread discusses the removal of the instrument panel, to resolder a point on the instrument cluster circuit board. My 2000F150 XLT, has had the compass/temp led go dead, and now I'm suffering from intermittent odometer, as discussed in the following thread. I'm wondering if there is a relationship between the two, and that a resoldering of that point or others like it is in order. Just a thought.. cheers. Jeff

I too had overhead display fail, as well as intermittent odometer. I resolder temp display, and to this day have not had odometer go blank on me. Before I would get a blank odometer about 2 times a week. Now nothing since resolder.
