battery indicator light, gauges out

Just encountered an issue and not sure of cause... panel battery indicator light came on but kept going on/off as I'd drive. However later (in the dark unfortunately) I noticed radio would go off if headlights were switched on, plus all my gauges went to nothing...

Is this a fuse or harness issue, alternator issue, or battery? My panel lights, lights, blinker, etc. were all barely working when I made it home... Any suggestions of where I can look to fix? 1999 F150 XLT

Thanks!

Get the battery checked. This is often a sign it is failing.

you can't properly test an alternator unless you have a good battery, so you're gonna need to start with a battery first and go from there

Before testing or replacing the battery, remove, inspect, clean, & tighten its terminals, and FULLY charge it. Read these captions:

Before testing or replacing the alternator, read this caption:

To get both tested thoroughly & accurately, find a shop or dealership with a MidTronics tester (all dealerships of all brands are required to have one for battery warranties) similar to this:
