Draining battery
Draining battery
My batt has been draining lately. I added a dvd/navi/bluetooth headunit, and dvd headrests recently. So I am know that is extra pull on the batt. For the last two days when I go to start my truck, it does not seem to want to turn over, and I can hear a clicking sound coming from the fuse panel (passenger side). The truck eventually starts up (though I did need a jump this morning). I know it's probably time to get a new batt, but is that clicking sound normal?
If your battery voltage is low, the starter relay pulls in, which activates the starter solenoid which has a MUCH bigger current draw that can pull the voltage down so much that the relay releases - then the process starts all over again. The clicking is the relay. It is normal to hear this with a low battery.

you may want to look into a battery brain too. after i added all my electrical stuff on my truck, i found that i was needing a jump much more often, until it got to where i needed one every single time i wanted to start my truck. tried getting a better battery compared to the stock motorcraft one, but didnt seem to make much of a difference. so i bought a battery brain off of amazon. cuts power from the battery when it drops below 11.8v. that way when you get in and the battery normally would have been dead, you press a button, it reconnects it, and youre good to go.
