4-pin trailer plug dead on 2005 F150
Now be4 some1 gets uppity and preaches about using the search tools, I DID!...and got squat.
Here's my issue. I have had a Plasmaglow Fire & Ice light bar for a few years and some of the led's went out so Plasmaglow honored the warranty and sent me a new one. It hooks right into the 4pin trailer port like the old one did and then a white wire is hardwired to the reverse. When I plugged it in to the 4pin port it lit up...YAY...but a short lived YAY which turns into a long sighhhh! When I started the truck and hit the left or right turn signals the bar stays lit and the arrow on my dash doesn't blink.
Strange. Hazards do same thing. When I pulled the plug on the light bar the turn signals are back to normal. Today I plugged the bar back in to do more testing and it doesn't even light up at all. I used my test light to check the 4pin plug and it's not getting power so I suspect a fuse. I checked every fuse that has the word trailer in it (about 5) and they are all good. I don't know how to check a relay as I don't have that kind of equipment and I'm a crappy electrician. Confusing stuff ohms, etc... Does anyone know what fuse or relay or both that controls the power to the trailer plug? Are the 4pin and round plugs on the same circuit? I would really like to get this working as the light bar actually keeps people from tailgating as much. It also looks KooL! It's very noticeable at least for me...phew that was a long post!

How did you check the fuses ?
Was this with a meter checking for power on both pins on the back of the fuse, or the pull and stare at the fuse method ?
Sounds like the fuses are blown, and you used the stare method of checking the fuse if you do not get power at the trailer tow adapter.
What 5 fuses did you check ?
The 4 pin & 7 pin trailer tow adapters are on the same fuses for the L & R Stop / Turn circuits and the parking lamps.
What wire did you wire the reverse lamp circuit from the light bar to on the 7 pin adapter ? ( sounds like you might have taken ground to the reverse or ther other way around ).

that's what it sounds like to me as well. i have a light bar on my truck and the first thing i did was cut the 4 pin plug off and installed a 5 pin plug, bought an adapter that goes into the round 7 pin outlet with a 4 pin and a 5 pin on it. the 4 pin i use for my hitch light and the 5 pin works my light bar with the reverse. reason being was i didn't want to splice into the factory wiring. on a round 7 pin plug, the round pin in the middle is for the reverse lights. i have pics in my album with the lights installed, but not sure how to post them.
--->SSCULLY...As far as checking the fuses I did both. I visually inspected them and my fuse puller has 2 metal pins on the back for testing purposes. But I do ge the dip**** award for this one. Turns out my test light was not grounded properly. I clipped it to the frame as I have one be4 but it didn't make proper contact that way so I clipped it to the top pin of the 4-pin plug and viola'...my plug works. I called Plasmaglow and it turns out the doides fried and killed the light bar so they are sending me yet another one this time the flexible one. My fingers are crossed. It's kinda funny they scrambled to find one of the 48" rigid bars they do not even make anymore because they thought I wanted it as a replacement for the bad one. Gottal love irony!
eTrailer.com has tons of 7 pin to xxx adapters. They can go from 7 to 4/5 pin flat, 7 to 4/5 flat with quick change 6 pin round ( to change between the 2 6 pin wiring codes ), etc

i bought mine from Advance Auto. the part is a Hopkins Adapter; Part # 47385; price is $17.49. i think when i bought mine, it was only about $15. if you go to there website, just put in the part # in the search, and you will see it. hope this helps
Nice adapter. One last question though. How did you wire in the reverse to the 5-pin without splicing? Also is the reverse the bottom hole of the 5-pin?

the wire for the reverse (mine was white), goes to the fifth wire on the plug. the other 4 wires were put in the same locations as they came off of the original 4 pin plug onto the 5 pin plug, and if i'm not mistaken, the bottom hole is the reverse. something else i like about this, my trailer has the flat 4 pin connector, so i use that one on the adapter and i can still leave my light bar connected.
