Truck is acting up alot

Hey yall, so after a fail install of lights behind the grill with the help of a friend; I seem to have a copious amount of things going wrong. For starters, whenever I hit the brakes: the interrior lights go on, back up camera engages, rear view mirror defrosts go on, drivers side heated seat will go off (passenger is unaffected though), and if I turn on a turn signal with the brakes applied it blinks much more rapidly. The locks also seems sluggish or don't always open the doors with the key fob. When I open the passenger door, lights don't react to it and the radio stays on, and the driver side door causes a delay for the head unit. The head unit randomly starts playing music too when the keys are out of the truck as well. Today I also realized cruise control randomly stopped working on me when on the highway but would start again if I hit resume.

I took it up to the car audio place I went to get my head unit done and a guy told me he thinks someone messed with the ignition wire: Could that cause that many things to go wrong? To my knowledge, we didn't tap into anything for power, although we did try and put grounds where there were already ground wires. Any insight yall? I don't want to drive the truck when it is acting up so much on me.

Thanks yall,
-Barrett

Sounds like you have a few issues causing the symptoms.

From the interior lamp and radio symtoms, I would start with checking the BSM ( Body Security Module ) grounds and the wiring to the BSM in the driver's side door sill.

There is a thread in the technical articles / how to forum on getting the back seat out.

The lights behind the grille, did you try using the factory wiring for the install ?
How did you try installing them electrically speaking ?

We didn't use any of the factory wiring, which is one reason I am so confused how everything is messed up. We went from the battery to a separate switch.

Sorry for the delayed response guys:
Mgdfan: Not really, not to smart when it comes to this. Give me some sort of idea of what you need to know I guess?

Cosworth: Yes we did.

Rcantu: Yes, I think one connector is still on one of the grounds in the driver's side kick panel next to the hood release though. No wires are on it however.

Yesterday afternoon: I realized when I was showing a friend how the truck was goofing up on me, that with the door open, I was able to open and close the windows, but they wouldn't work with the door closed. And as of later last night everything seems to have been working well? I'm confused but as of 10 minutes ago when I was driving my truck, nothing was out of the ordinary. I haven't messed with anything at all since this post either. Any reason it would flip back to normal? The fact it seems to have fixed itself over the course of a day and a half confuses me even more.

Thanks yall

Need help: I took the truck to the guys that put my HU in, they thought they fixed it (wired my lights too), and this morning it acted up again. It's weird because it started messing with me about 40 minutes after I started driving. And also the brake lights sort of pulse at night when I unlock the truck, nothing happens weird inside when it happens but the lights act all goofy. Any ideas? I plan on taking it back to American Radio but would love some sort of an idea to tell them to maybe start with.
