I got an idea...

So a short time ago, I got a new grill for my 05 XLT. It has the driving lights built into it. I love the thing. My question for you guys is, can I buy a OEM headlight switch that is set up for the foglights and use it to turn on my driving lights. The grill kit came with a very nice wiring harness and switch but I was liking the idea of the oem switch. Any help you guys can give would be great.

oh by the way, I did use the search link, but all I came up with was for the older trucks and people wanting to add oem fog light and asking if the wires were there form the factory.

I added my own aftermarket driving lights and got the OEM light switch from Tasca Ford. I forget who I talked to at Tasca Ford, but they were very helpful and got me the correct light switch that matched my color interior. The wiring from the headlamp switch to the relay box was all there and I just tapped into the foglamp wire and ran it to my own wiring harness w/relay. It works just like factory except the driving lights stay on with the high beams.

Just make sure the kit came with and adequate capacity relay, or add one if it didn't. I'm a strong believer in relays and proper fusing.

Make sure you have your VIN handy when you call, '04 and early production '05 trucks had a different headlamp switch and connector than the late production '05 and 06-08 trucks. The 04-05 ( EP ) switch is 12 pins, the 05 ( LP ) -08 MY has a 10 pin switch, and they are not interchangeable.
