HID Compatibility Question

Hey Guys,
This may seem like a dumb question, but are HID ballasts compatible with any type of bulb? I have 6000K Bi's and Fogs and I want to change my fogs to green ones. Buying just a set of green bulbs is a lot cheaper, but I'm not sure if I can buy just any old set of bulbs due to them not working with my DDM ballasts (DDM doesn't have green bulbs). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

As long as you match the wattage from ballasts to bulbs. 35w to 35w. And stick with same bulb type so the ignighter fastens to bulb. H13 heads H10 fogs or what ever yours are.

NO! They have to be the same kind, and same wattage. You can get any color or brand.

If your post said:

I would say correct.
What year is your truck? What W are your ballasts?

Right now, I have DDM 35W 6000K fogs in. I want to get the 35W 30000K green ones, but DDM doesnt make them so i have to get a different brand. Im just curious as to whether or not the bulbs have to be DDM, or if the bulbs dont matter

as long as the connectors are AMP style as pictured below, and are rated appropriately for your ballasts, you can interchange bulbs.

But why are you getting green if I may ask? They will be useless for anything other than looks....

Do you mean 3000K for the greenish look like mine?

If so,
I am selling my 3000K 35W bulbs (with the AMP connectors like yours)
and they have been capped so they don't blind oncoming traffic.

Wow man those look nice. If you cold get a night time picture that'd be awesome. They look to have a hint of yellow in them but i'm probably seeing things. How much are you selling them for?

Actually 3000K HID lights ARE yellow...not Green !!!! The difference between mfg's is the amount of gold color within the bulb. 3000K bulbs are actually a lower lumen white light with a gold internal coating. Originally offered for fog light applications. On another note, always get the capping option if going into fog lamp housings
