Acting like the battery is dead

Hi all-have an 04 150 with the 4.6-every once and a while I go to start it and it acts like the battery is dead-clicking, motors turns for a sec, etc. However, the battery has 12 volts and checks ok. wanted some ideas what to check next-i was going to check the cables full length on tues when I have some time. Is it possible a bad starter would cause similar symptoms? Thanks

Could be a low battery, start with having it load tested.

Had it load tested today, not the battery so I'm going to start with checking the cables in the morning. Any other ideas would be appreciated

This is a 2004 New Body style, not a 2004 Heritage or Lightning ?
I have been working that ( maybe bad ) assumption.

If the battery is in good shape, the other other items would be the cables you are going to check or the starter motor relay.

If the cable ends test good maybe change the starter motor relay with another relay in the fuse panel ?

It is the new body style-the battery tested good, then then tested as a low charge on another testing machine after the battery had been charged, so I went ahead and changed the battery. So far so good, but only time will tell I guess. I've been reading other posts and they suggest perhaps a bad relay, I'm hoping its not an electrical issue since I'm no good at that
