Unhappy Problems with Recon White lightning LED bar

Hello all,

I am installing on a 2010 F150.

I am on my second led bar. Manufacturer sent another under warranty. I am trying to install and am wondering if I have the wiring wrong. I am taping into the wires on the 7 pin trailer harness. Yellow-Left, Green-Right, Brown-Running light, Silver with Brown strip- Reverse.

Everything works until I turn my headlights on. The bar gets erratic. Either turn signal and the correct side will flash but the rest of the LED's flicker. If I hit the brakes the entire bar flickers.

I have spliced female spade connectors into the harness and male onto the bar wires. All connections are soldered.

Any ideas? Do I have the right wires? Only one in question is the running light. Is it the brown wire? Has anyone installed on a 2010 model? Was there a change to 2010 models?

This should be simple but I have struck out.

Not sure what is going on, do you have a good ground at the recon connector ?

The colors are correct ( assuming you mean gray w/ brown stripe, not silver ).

Try the same tests but using a meter, to see what is going on.

Thanks SScully.

I checked all the wires with my meter and all is well. Light bar still wigs out as listed above. I have called the manufacturer again and they now tell me they have had issues with their bars. So much so he doesn't suggest sending out another and is offering me a credit to use on another product.
I'd just as soon have the bar functioning so will pursue that option.

Anyone else seen a similar situation?

Just noticed that my white lightning has the 3 farthest right LED's that are going out and will come on and function normally if the bar is tapped or adjusted. But has to be done everytime the truck is started. Going to try a different mounting option and see if I can fix it. My guess is the solder connections inside the tube have become brittle.
