additional LED for OEM alarm
additional LED for OEM alarm
my 05 STX had a larger OEM "alarm" flashing red light on the dash compared to the small flashing icon on my new 10 FX2 gauge cluster.
is it easy to install an additional and more visible (LED?) indicator and tie it into/from the factory wiring? or would it be easier to do as a seperate relay?

The PATS indicator is triggered over the Multi Communications network, to the cluster, so there are not a set of wires for it to hook up to.
If you want a flashing LED, just use a 5 pin relay, and power it via any item that is hot in the accessory position, and have constant power to it, using the normally closed contact to the LED.
This way anytime you turn the truck off, the LED comes on. There are numerous pictures of how to build a flasher for a LED. You might find an indicator LED that already has the flash built in, but this limits what the LED housing would look like.
