Alt light comes on during acceleration

Alt light comes on during acceleration
Hi Guys,
I have a 99f150 w/5.4 motor. When I accelerate hard and the rpms climb above 4k or so, the alternator light comes on. Anyone else seen this before? I generally dont drive the truck too hard, but sometimes you gotta step on it a bit!
This doesn't seem normal, though....

My '99 4.6 had the same symptom. At about 4200 rpm the idiot light came on and at night there was a visible dimming of the headlights. Dealer changed the alternator and no more problems in the last 1500 miles

Thats what I am thinking... but going back to the dealer is like having a root canal with no medication! I am gonna have to call them and see if they will cover this... thanks for the reply..
