Do a search on this subject. It has been discussed here before. There is a sensitivity switch on the sensor located under the passenger side of the dashboard.

DID THE SEARCH BUT I DIDNT FIND ANYTHING ABOUT A POT TO SET. FOUND THAT YOU COULD PUT TAPE OVER THE SENSOR ON THE DASH-- I WAS HOPING TO FIND A WAY TO ADJUST IT SOMEWHERE . SO YOU COULD KEEP DOING IT TILL YOU GET WHAT YOU WANT. THANKS

Here is an excerpt from "ke4kfs" posted 03-11-2001:
"Following the suggestion I found within this topic, I gently pried the dash cover off and accessed the autolamp sensor. Initially, my intention was to partially cover the sensor with electrical tape; upon closer examination, however, I discovered a small yellow screw located on the side of the unit. After experimenting with the settings, I learned that the yellow screw adjusts the sensitivity of the autolamp sensor. On my 2000 F-150, turning the screw clockwise caused the lights to come on sooner (in less darkness), which is what I wanted to increase safety."
To be honest, I "thought" the yellow screw was an adjustment for how long the lights would remain on after turning off the ignition at night - - guess I was wrong. Hope this helps. There are some pics from "Storm" and Skyjet at http://www.geocities.com/skyjet1/DRL.html

FedEx, The duration of the lights is adjusted with the thumbwheel at the light switch. I adjusted my lights to about 15% of the allowable limit. Tired of helpful people telling me I left my lights on!

Four Hour;
Perhaps I'm wrong, or it's my SCrew - - but, the thumbwheel to the right of the headlight ****/ switch controls the light intensity of the interior instrument cluster. Mine has a "notch" in it which keeps it at max illumination. Perhaps it's a dual function switch? I'll check tonight after a couple of adult beverages (in the driveway)and the NASCAR Sears Point (road race ?) is over. Thanks for the info ....

Not sure what year your truck is, but on 99's equipped with the autolamp feature, there are two thumbwheels to the right of the headlight ****.

LAS:
The "banana" panel is held in by four/ five interior trim, metal clips. Carefully pry the panel open with a small screw driver. You may have to move along the edge until you find a "pressure" point - - then pop the clip free. If you look at the photo above, you'll see the retaining holes around the circumference of the opening - - the clips (attached to the underside of the panel) snap into those holes. Best of luck.
