Cool

Heheh, I noticed the same thing last night. As long as I was about 3 feet away, I couldn't hear it.

What do you do when the door is open, no key in the ignition, and it still dings?

Mine has done it since I bought it. Is that normal?

Turning the key to the on position, and leaving it will harm the ignition won't it? Or is that an old myth?

I have tried to find the actual bell up in the dash, and it is so buried in there, that it is a major ordeal to dig it out.

Angry

I just came back to the site to post a question and found this topic. My truck has the DING DING sound now too. Anytime I open the drivers side door it goes off, and no, the keys are not in the ignition and the lights are off. It doesn't matter if you are getting in or out. I think it is due to the ignition switch; it has a different DING than the bell that chimes for the seat belt. Yes, it has come down to the subtle tonal differences of DINGS! If I find out where it is coming from I'll pass it on, in the meantime, any help would be great!
Thanks,

The only way to get rid of the ding is to remove your gem module, take it apart, and unsolder or cut one of the speaker wires. This way the computer still thinks it is making a ding sound but there is no actual sound. Problem with this is it stops the ding for everything.

Exclamation

I found a way!!!!
Well I've heard it on this site before and I went to go check and see if it works, and it does.
All you have to do is click the door latch in 2 clicks and then it stops...Just as if the door was closed.
Just dont forget to pull it back out when you close the door.
Hope this works for everyone!
Mabey there is some way to connect it to a switch on the door to make it easier.
